ASACOP was established in 2021, as an umbrella body of all Leaders/Presidents of Akwa Ibom State Communities/Organizations across the World with the basic objective of promoting unity, the general welfare and the socio economic well-being of the Akwa Ibom State diaspora community, as well as promoting and sustaining our cultural heritage, economic advancement and initiatives of our home government, bringing prosperity to our people at home and in the diaspora. The Association currently has membership across 21 countries, viz: Benin Republic, Canada, China, England, Finland, Germany, Ghana, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Liberia, Nigeria, Scotland, South Africa, The Philippines, The United Arab Emirates, The United States of America, Togo, Turkiye. In the case of Nigeria, ASACOP assigned one representative from Akwa Ibom Communities in each of the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

ASACOP is a platform that will unify Akwa Ibomites from all over the world under one umbrella. It is modeled after The Commonwealth of Nations. There is no direct membership of the association. Each Akwa Ibom community is represented by their President and membership is voluntary. It is an association of independent and equal Akwa Ibom communities which support each other and work together towards agreed upon goals.
